Saltwort pollen increases in the air during August

Saltworts are mostly herbaceous plants whose allergenic pollen can trigger symptoms such as itchy eyes, nasal congestion, and asthma attacks. Because the pollen grains are extremely small, they can travel long distances with the wind.

In Tashkent city and region:

• In July — detected in small amounts.

• In the first ten days of August — recorded in moderate amounts.

Recommendations:

• Monitor pollen levels and follow official monitoring results carefully.

• Plan outdoor activities: between 5:00 and 10:00 in the morning, pollen levels are highest, so try to limit time outside.

• Use protective measures: wear masks and glasses.

• Improve indoor air quality: ventilate rooms and use air purifiers.

Interesting fact: Saltwort pollen is very small (5–30 microns) and can reach the bronchi, potentially triggering asthma attacks.
